- Thin, basic fonts work best with long lines of text or very small tags. Avoid choosing blocky, bold, or script fonts if you need a lot of information on your tag.

CNC engraving vs laser engraving
Our buckles and tags are engraved with a diamond-tipped CNC machine, never a laser! Laser engraving is used by nearly all other collar companies - lasers are inexpensive but only burn the top surface coating of buckles. This etching often wears off the buckle in a short time. Our engraver physically removes metal and surface coating to provide a longer-lasting, professional engraving when compared to laser-etched products.
While our engraving process is vastly superior to most "laser etched" products on the market, care should still be taken to protect your items from friction damage.
The easiest way to do this is to avoid hanging metal objects near your tag! Hanging tags, lights, and other gizmos that swing or rub against engraved tags will inevitably cause premature wear and tear. Instead, fasten these items at the adjustment slide or a mini tag ring so they cannot make contact with your tag. Similarly, if you wash your engraved item, remove it first or protect it by placing it inside a garment bag or a sock so it doesn't get beat up in the washer/dryer.
Choosing the correct size
It is crucial that you choose the size tag opening that matches the width of your collar. Measure carefully!
3/8” tags fit 3/8” wide and thin/flexible 1/2” wide collars
5/8” tags fit 5/8” wide collars
3/4” tags fit 3/4” wide collars
1” tags fit 1” wide collars
1.25" tags fit 1.25” wide collars
1.5” tags fit 1.5” wide collars
2" tags fit 2” wide collars
Buying for Biothane?
Our tags will NOT fit adjustable Biothane collars with buckles at both ends. Biothane is not flexible enough to bend to fit into the slots.
If your collar has a free end to thread through the slots, this tag will work!
If buying a Biothane collar from us, we can install the tag during construction. This option is permanent.

* some thin fabric collars lack the rigidity needed to retain tags of this design. Applying the tag over two layers of the collar is usually all that's needed to hold it tight!

It is crucial that you choose the size tag opening that matches the width of your collar. Measure carefully! The only exception is the 3/8” tag – these tags will fit most 1/2” webbing collars as well as 3/8”.
- 3/8” tags fit 3/8” and most 1/2” collars, outside dimensions are approximately 1.33” x 0.63”, and weigh 0.1oz
- 5/8” tags fit 5/8” collars, outside dimensions are approximately 1.74” x 0.80”, and weigh 0.3oz
- 3/4” tags fit 3/4” collars, outside dimensions are approximately 1.74” x 0.90”, and weigh 0.3oz
- 1” tags fit 1” collars, outside dimensions are approximately 2.02” x 1.19”, and weigh 0.5oz
- NEW ! 1.25" tags fit 1.25” collars, outside dimensions are approximately 2.25” x 1.50”, and weigh 0.7oz.

- We recommend keeping your lines under 25 characters (spaces included) whenever possible. Long lines may be split into two or three, as we see fit.
- 3/8” tags look best with 3 lines or less.
- 5/8" or 3/4" tags look best with just 4 lines or less.
- 1" tags look best with 5 lines or less.
- 1.25" tags look best with 6 lines or less.
- 1.5" & 2" tags look great with up to 8 lines.

I love these tags. I got my first for my dog. He needs to have a medical alert in his for epilepsy. The black one after 2 years of being rubbed by his city license started to show sings of wear. I ordered another in red, but… I may have lost it somewhere in my house. So I probably will need to do another order 😅. My 3rd order was for my kittens I just picked up today. 3/8” is the right size for a cat collar. I think when I order the my Amarok’s replacement to the replacement tag, I will get them ones without the middle names. It is a lot of characters on a small tag with Murder Mittens and Mayhem Mittens. I think Murder and Mayhem will be a better fit for the tiny tag. Now my dog’s 1.25 tag, I could write a novel on.
We have three dogs who have 1.5" Martingale collars from Tooth & Honey. We ordered all three 1.5” tags in Black. The engraving on them is highly visible and in large, easy-to-read characters. The tags themselves are very well-made from thick stainless steel that does not bend easily and that stays on their collars securely. Highly recommended!

I bought one of these for all five of my dogs because I have 2, 18 month old standard poodles and they play pretty rough at times. These are high quality, excellent looking collars and they work as advertised!
Bought a breakaway because my shiba got caught on one of my cabinet handles with a regular collar...so this is safe but has his name in case he gets out of the house…we use his harness for walks. Love the pattern
Had this for about a month on a Kong 1.25 wide collar. Fits great no chance of it coming off without us taking it off. We got slate and font is easy to read and hasn't been scratched even with dogs wrestling and playing rough. Would definitely buy again down the road.
I was expecting fabric like most of the decorative collars, but this is the webbing so it should look nice for much longer! Really cute. I am sure I will get more.
When my friend told me forever ago that her poodle got strangled when their collar got caught on a fence I became worried about leaving collars on my dogs; however, I do like to keep them on because of the ID tags. Breakaway collars are the perfect solution. They can wear their collars and if they happen to get caught they won't strangle themselves. I like the collar I ordered for my pup and will definitely be ordering another one when he outgrows it. The shipping was fast and customer service seems great! I also like the piece of velcro (I think?) they included with the collar to make the collar harder to break off for larger dogs. It also gives instructions on how to cut the velcro to change the amount of force required for the collar to break apart.

I ordered 2 collars with an add on for both and they both look great! We haven't had to rely on the breakaway part yet, but I'm glad it's there. We had an incident with other collars that was definitely scary. I like that these collars have a way to override the breakaway feature with an extra band around the breakaway part made for larger dogs (mine are 65lb and 85 lbs). I also really like the reflective portion of the collar and the engraved details. Overall these seem really well made and I'm glad I got these collars!

The description is factual that they are huge, which you should expect if you're ordering one to fit a 1.5 inch collar. It goes right on, is curved for comfort, doesn't jingle, text shows up beautifully. I am VERY satisfied with this purchase, and will come back when I need another one!

After one dog twisted through his harness and made a dash for the main road, I 100% recommend everyone get a harness to collar safety clip. I got the 5/8" and it was big when my doodle was 8 weeks old, but now that she's 16 weeks old, it's a great size.
