CNC engraving vs laser engraving
Our buckles and tags are engraved with a diamond-tipped CNC machine, never a laser! Laser engraving is used by nearly all other collar companies - lasers are inexpensive but only burn the top surface coating of buckles. This etching often wears off the buckle in a short time. Our engraver physically removes metal and surface coating to provide a longer-lasting, professional engraving when compared to laser-etched products.
While our engraving process is vastly superior to most "laser etched" products on the market, care should still be taken to protect your items from friction damage.
The easiest way to do this is to avoid hanging metal objects near your tag! Hanging tags, lights, and other gizmos that swing or rub against engraved tags will inevitably cause premature wear and tear. Instead, fasten these items at the adjustment slide or a mini tag ring so they cannot make contact with your tag. Similarly, if you wash your engraved item, remove it first or protect it by placing it inside a garment bag or a sock so it doesn't get beat up in the washer/dryer.
Choosing the correct size
It is crucial that you choose the size tag opening that matches the width of your collar. Measure carefully!
3/8” tags fit 3/8” wide and thin/flexible 1/2” wide collars
5/8” tags fit 5/8” wide collars
3/4” tags fit 3/4” wide collars
1” tags fit 1” wide collars
1.25" tags fit 1.25” wide collars
1.5” tags fit 1.5” wide collars
2" tags fit 2” wide collars
Buying for Biothane?
Jingle Free Tags can be used on some Biothane (waterproof webbing) collars, however there are some limitations.
If your Biothane collar is made by us, you have four options:
- Expect to use some muscle and/or a pliers to put your tag on your collar. This will work for collars 3/4" and wider. Not recommended for anything narrower than 3/4".
- If you're ordering a new Biothane collar at the same time, leave us a note to use a Chicago Screw on your collar so that the webbing can be unthreaded from the hardware, threaded through the tag, and then re-assembled. We recommend a bit of Loctite to the screw threads for permanent applications. A Chicago screw replaces one of the permanent rivets on the collar.
- Request that your tag be permanently built-in to your collar. You'll want to send us a current collar measurement so we can nail the sizing.
- Purchase a Name Plate Holder to make switching your tag easier.
If your Biothane collar is made by another company:
- If it has a free end to thread through the tag, you should have no trouble applying the tag that way. Be aware there will be a noticeable kink in your collar where the tag sits
- If it is an adjustable type with a buckle at both ends OR a martingale type that doesn't have an open end, proceed with caution. Biothane brand and off-branded coated webbings come in many different thicknesses - some are too stiff to fold into the tag.

These are 2nds quality Jingle Free Tags. A pack of rabid squirrels knocked over our coating rack while we coated and baked these tags so all of them have some blemishes - dust, small scratches, a 'wrinkly' appearance in the coating, uneven coating, an odd scorch mark, etc.
Once engraved, we don't expect these tags to perform any less than any other tag! But since they are a little less "pretty", we're offering them up at a great discount!
One copper tag has an indentation in the surface and the other has 2 names partially engraved on the back (oops).

- 1.5" tags look great with up to 8 lines.

I ordered 4 breakaway collars and couldn't be happier with my purchase. We have 2 dogs and 2 grand-dogs, 3 of which are escape artists. I wanted a way to identify our dogs but safely and these collars do exactly that. They are safe and high quality. We got the reflective collars with the metal engraved clasps. The engraving is clean and very legible and the collars do breakaway just as described. There is a gap in the market for dog breakaway collars and Fox Valley fills that gap perfectly. I bought one of these for all five of my dogs because I have 2, 18 month old standard poodles and they play pretty rough at times. These are high quality, excellent looking collars and they work as advertised!
Bought a breakaway because my shiba got caught on one of my cabinet handles with a regular collar...so this is safe but has his name in case he gets out of the house…we use his harness for walks. Love the pattern
Had this for about a month on a Kong 1.25 wide collar. Fits great no chance of it coming off without us taking it off. We got slate and font is easy to read and hasn't been scratched even with dogs wrestling and playing rough. Would definitely buy again down the road.
I was expecting fabric like most of the decorative collars, but this is the webbing so it should look nice for much longer! Really cute. I am sure I will get more.
When my friend told me forever ago that her poodle got strangled when their collar got caught on a fence I became worried about leaving collars on my dogs; however, I do like to keep them on because of the ID tags. Breakaway collars are the perfect solution. They can wear their collars and if they happen to get caught they won't strangle themselves. I like the collar I ordered for my pup and will definitely be ordering another one when he outgrows it. The shipping was fast and customer service seems great! I also like the piece of velcro (I think?) they included with the collar to make the collar harder to break off for larger dogs. It also gives instructions on how to cut the velcro to change the amount of force required for the collar to break apart.

I ordered 2 collars with an add on for both and they both look great! We haven't had to rely on the breakaway part yet, but I'm glad it's there. We had an incident with other collars that was definitely scary. I like that these collars have a way to override the breakaway feature with an extra band around the breakaway part made for larger dogs (mine are 65lb and 85 lbs). I also really like the reflective portion of the collar and the engraved details. Overall these seem really well made and I'm glad I got these collars!

The description is factual that they are huge, which you should expect if you're ordering one to fit a 1.5 inch collar. It goes right on, is curved for comfort, doesn't jingle, text shows up beautifully. I am VERY satisfied with this purchase, and will come back when I need another one!

After one dog twisted through his harness and made a dash for the main road, I 100% recommend everyone get a harness to collar safety clip. I got the 5/8" and it was big when my doodle was 8 weeks old, but now that she's 16 weeks old, it's a great size.
