Renewing your Paint-Filled Plastic Buckle Engraving
Has your paint-fill faded or been scrubbed away? Watch this quick video to learn how to re-paint your buckle with just a couple of supplies at home.
You'll need 3 things
- Pilot Metallic Permanent Fine Point Marker (a non-fine point would also work, but it's what I'm using in the video)
- A melamine sponge (brand name Magic Eraser)
- Some water
BEFORE YOU BEGIN:
DO NOT ALLOW the collar material to rub on the sponge/Magic Eraser. Fasten a piece of paper around it, use masking tape, etc to protect the material from the sponge and the paint/water.

Video Steps
- Wet your sponge with a small amount of water. Press gently to distribute the water through the sponge
- Shake your marker thoroughly
- I missed step 3. Oops.
- Paint your text. Don't worry if its messy, we'll clean it up in the next step.
- Erase the surface paint by rubbing the buckle on the damp sponge. Use VERY LITTLE pressure. You don't want to press into the text. Don't worry, you can repeat these steps as many times as you need.
- Check for missed spots and repeat steps 4 & 5 as needed.
